March 13-18, 2026. Slowly moving north from SoCal, our first stop was in San Luis Obispo (SLO). This is a very cute college town – Cal Poly is located here. We went for a breakfast stroll on Saturday in the town center. The St Patrick’s Day activities had already begun. The bars traditionally open at 4AM for the St Patrick’s celebration, and by the time we got there at 10 things were in full swing 😂. Lots of buzzed college students crowding the streets and doing what college kids do. Not a problem…but man did we feel senior😉.
The afternoon drive took us up to Los Osos for a hotel night. We stayed at The Seapines golf resort, where a round of golf and a view of Morro Bay comes with the very reasonable room rate. We also explored the spectacular local beaches, and went a few miles up the coast to check out the town of Morro Bay. What a special spot! Lea Ann found the garden shop of her dreams there, and we had a great lunch by the ocean. Did I mention we played some golf?
Then it was an hour northeast to a beautiful winery in Paso Robles for the night. The temperature swings from the shore to the valley are amazing….72 at the shore and high 80s in the valley. We guess that these swings are responsible for the wonderful grapes that becomes spectacular wine! Just a little hiccup…our generator has failed, and with some boondocking coming up, it needed to get fixed. Jeff found a Peterbilt (truck) dealer in Paso that could handle our warranty claim, so we left the camper with them for the night…and returned to Los Osos for the night (and another round of golf) while waiting for the repair. RVing is a lot like cruising on a boat…making repairs in exotic locations😎
