February 16-20, 2026. We left Bob and Roz’s house and headed for the high desert. Lea Ann was very smart, and rented us a wonderful AirBNB for a week in Joshua Tree. WOW! Now we know why U2 recorded an album here. It is truly an amazing place…you can feel the spirit of the land…and no stress.
We arrived in a rainstorm…the weather was a major concern this week. But, in California it changes every few miles. We left the Coachella valley where it was 74 and sunny, but by the time we got up to Joshua Tree (3500 ft) it was cold and raining. There was a ton of fresh powder in the surrounding mountains above 5000’. But, all good. Very dramatic. Day 2 here we explored the awesome Joshua Tree National Park, and then over to Pioneer Town…the location many westerns from the 30’s through the 80’s. They still shoot up there from time to time.
