La Quinta, CA

February 10-16, 2026. A short 2 hour drive on I-10 west from Blythe took us over the mountains and down into the Coachella Valley. Palm Springs, baby! Streets in Palm Springs are named for Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, Gene Autrey and Dinah Shore. Entire neighborhoods reflect the mid-century style that made the Rat Pack famous. Our first stop was at the home of Rob Bracken and George Applegate. Rob and Jeff went to high school together at Interlochen! Fun to catch up and see their awesome home.

Then, it was back east a few miles to the La Quinta home of our close friends Bob and Roz Kain (readers may recall our stop at their Cleveland home in July). Always a fun visit…the most beautiful golf course we’ve ever played on and great hiking in the mountains. But, this year had a twist…both Lea Ann and Roz skated for the USA in the 1984 Olympics — so, imagine the fun we’ve all had watching this year’s edition of the Olympics!

The weather for our week was pretty perfect…a little different than the weather in our next stop…Joshua Tree NP.
